What is a Mentor?
The word Mentor has its origins in Greek mythology and is used to define:
‘a trusted friend and teacher, a wise person’.
Experienced Mentors
Skills can be learned from either formal tuition or from listening and relating to a person who has those skills. Experience isn’t learned; it’s acquired.
At Mentor Services all our mentors are volunteers. They volunteer their time because they know and care about small business in Tasmania.
Our mentors bring a life time of hands-on experience to your business and are experts in a variety of fields: retail, wholesale, hospitality and tourism, finance, marketing, manufacturing and community service. They have extensive, successful business experience, talents and skills and provide voluntarily, without commercial gain, personal guidance to small businesses requesting assistance.
Our mentors are:-
- qualified, experienced and successful,
- coaches – NOT consultants,
- providers of unbiased opinions, guidance and ideas – NOT professional services,
- sympathetic to the problems of small businesses,
- good communicators,
- good listeners,
- empathetic,
- trusted friends,
- teachers,
- and able and willing to offer their time and business skills on a voluntary basis.
